Howdy from the Library Pea!

Welcome to my first blog post on The Library Pea! I have been a school librarian (all levels) for the past 13 years, and it is truly the best job in the school! This is actually my second blog for librarians. The first, Mrs. ReaderPants, is primarily for book reviews, genrefication, booktalks, and random articles that I wrote earlier in my library career. Mrs. ReaderPants focuses mainly on young adult and middle grade books.

This blog is going to focus on the meat of librarianship--what we do in our libraries all day long. If you are a new librarian (or you know one), this blog is especially beneficial for you. I've been in your shoes before, and I remember clearly not knowing what or who to ask. I have thought for years about creating a "how to be a librarian" book for library newbies, but I actually like this blog format better. While I have the discipline to maintain a blog (or two), I do not have the grit to actually write and publish a book. This format is more interactive anyway, which I think is far more helpful for new librarians.

The Library Pea is about sharing ideas, cool links, makerspaces, book fairs, technology, apps, and anything else that makes up our hectic days in the library. If it's happening in the library, it's on The Library Pea!
